Tying tube flies for salmon and seatrout is a pleasure with our tube fly tool and tapered mandrel.
Long needles do a great job for long flies, but what about those shorter tubes, the tubes you'd tie for summer fish and low water. With the mini tapered mandrel we offer, there are many uses, but the prime role is for holding a short tube. This can be done in a number of ways - mandrel holding, the tube pushed on to the tapered mandrel only, or vee 'pinched', also supported on the taper, but 'pinched' with the front of the vee held via the clamp screw. Our tube fly tool is supplied with the mandrel but it can be purchased separately.
Standard tapered needles can of course still be used with our tube fly tool for tying longer flies.
